Mice can Pee Everywhere!

If you have mice running around, they are peeing everywhere!  Not to make it even worse, they often will poop when they are eating and stopped in a spot.  It is a constant with them, they like to leave a trail so to speak, so they can use their little strong sense of smell, to get around.  If they can smell the pee, they use it like a blind highway of sorts.  Imagine you are a mouse, in the dead of night, working the system with the other mice, and you need to run to the food spot as fast as possible.  If you are not a mouse of power, your nest area may be far from the food or water, and you have to carefully navigate the house to get there. Never mind that it is dark, that is OK.  As a mouse, your eyes are not too good. It is kind of like your grandma and her eyesight, you can see shapes, and view movement.  But a mouse has great hearing and great sense of smell. Your mouse will use the pee trail as the mouse highway.

If you are looking to get your mouse highway exposed, use UV light to see it.  Just like with any protein stain, if you use a black light or a UV light, you are going to see that pee trail.  And, it will enable you to see the little footy prints that go to the highway.  Use this information to set out your snap traps, as you are now placing them where the mice are running and coming from.

Be sure to check out how to set snap traps before you start your mouse trap process, at http://www.squidoo.com/meet-your-mouse
